Memorandum – Margaree Salmon Association

1. The name of the Association is the Margaree Salmon Association, hereinafter referred to as the Association,

2. The objects of the Association are:

(a) To impress upon all concerned that the Atlantic salmon, and trout, be enhanced, harvested and protected in a spirit of cooperation recognizing the need for conservation measures.

(b) To develop a comprehensive management plan to protect, enhance and recommend management procedures for the “Margaree” salmon and trout natural resource.

(c) To broaden the knowledge of the public to all issues surrounding the Margaree Salmon and trout resource.

(d) To further in all ways possible the conservation, protection, propagation and perpetuation of Atlantic salmon and trout.

(e) To support and assist the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the Provincial Department of Fisheries and organizations in any program to conserve and improve the salmon and trout fishery.

(f) To encourage and promote courtesy and good sportsmanship in the Margaree salmon and trout fishery.

(g) To acquire by way of grant, gift, purchase, bequest, devise, or otherwise, real and personal property and to use and apply such property to the realization of the objects of the Association.

(h) To buy, own, hold, lease, mortgage, sell and convey such real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable in the carrying out of the objects of the Association.

Provided that nothing herein contained shall permit the Association to carry on any trade, industry or business and the Association shall be carried on without purpose of gain to any of the members and that any surplus or any accretions of the Association shall be used solely for the purposes of the Association and the promotion of its objectives.

Provided, further, that if for any reason the operations of the Association are terminated or are wound up, or are dissolved and there remains, at that time, after satisfaction of all its debts and liabilities, any property whatsoever, the same shall be paid to the Margaree Salmon Museum.
