Established in 1982, the Margaree Salmon Association (also known as the MSA) is a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation, protection and enhancement of the Atlantic salmon and trout and their habitat.

Since its founding, the Margaree Salmon Association has established itself as the voice for the salmon resource and salmon conservation on the Margaree River, including being a lobbying force on behalf of the Margaree Fish Hatchery.

Land Acknowledgement

The Margaree Salmon Association’s conservation and preservation efforts are conducted in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. The Margaree Salmon Association recognizes the Peace and Friendship treaties signed with the British Crown in 1726 and acknowledges the sovereignty of the Mi’kmaw First Nation over these lands. The Margaree Salmon Association is grateful for the support and dedication of First Nation partners in conducting its activities – A shared goal of conserving, protecting and enhancing natural habitats for future generations.
