Notice: Entire Margaree River closed for all fishing effective July 17th 2025

The Regional Director General of Fisheries and Oceans Canada for the Maritimes Region gives notice that Variation Order MAR-VAR-2025-109 has been issued to vary the close times for angling for all species of fish for the Margaree River (Inverness County, Nova Scotia).
Effective July 17, 2025 at 16:00 until conditions improve, recreational angling for all species of fish is prohibited on the Margaree River.
From the East Margaree highway bridges upstream to the Cabot Trail Bridge (also known as Creamery Bridge) on the Southwest Margaree River and upstream to Doyles Bridge on the Northeast Margaree River, and the Gallant River upstream from its confluence with the Margaree River to the highway bridge on the East Margaree Road; and from Doyle’s bridge upstream to the Big Intervale Bridge on the NE Margaree River.
The Southwest Margaree upstream from the Cabot Trail Bridge (Creamery Bridge) to the Scottsville Bridge.
