Notice: Entire Margaree River once again closed for all fishing effective Aug 5th 2025
Notice:
The Regional Director General of Fisheries and Oceans Canada for the Maritimes Region gives notice that Variation Order MAR-VAR-2025-113 has been issued to close Section 2 of the Margaree River (NS), due to warm / low water conditions.
Effective August 5th, 2025 at 16:00, Section 2, under the Margaree River warm water protocol, from Doyle’s bridge upstream to the Big Intervale Bridge on the Northeast Margaree River will be closed to angling.
Sections 1 & 3 as identified below remain closed to angling for all species.
Section 1: From the East Margaree highway bridges upstream to the Cabot Trail bridge (also known as Creamery Bridge) on the Southwest Margaree River and upstream to Doyles Bridge on the Northeast Margaree River, and the Gallant River upstream from its confluence with the Margaree River to the highway bridge on the East Margaree Road; and
Section 3: The Southwest Margaree upstream from the Cabot Trail Bridge (Creamery Bridge) to the Scottsville Bridge.
